Currency and settlement

Yera Connect separates checkout currency from settlement asset.

This is one of the most important concepts for merchants.

The customer pays based on the checkout currency. The merchant settlement preference is controlled by the dashboard wallet and settlement asset.

Checkout currency

Checkout currency is the fiat amount the customer sees and pays against.

For WooCommerce, the plugin sends the WooCommerce order currency. If the store order is USD, Yera Connect creates the checkout session in USD.

For payment links, the merchant chooses the fiat currency in the dashboard form.

Settlement asset

Settlement asset is what the merchant expects to receive.

Example:

Checkout currency: USD
Settlement asset: USDC Polygon

WooCommerce currency behavior

WooCommerce sends the order currency to Yera Connect.

If the WooCommerce order is USD, the Yera checkout session is created in USD.

If the WooCommerce order is EUR, the Yera checkout session is created in EUR.

The merchant can choose the default store currency inside WooCommerce. The Yera plugin should still use the real order currency at checkout.

Payment link currency behavior

For payment links, the merchant chooses the fiat currency when creating the link.

The customer sees the selected amount and currency on the hosted checkout page.

API currency behavior

For custom API integrations, the merchant backend sends the checkout amount and fiat currency when creating the checkout session.

The backend should store the currency with the internal order record.

Wallet source

Wallet addresses are managed in the dashboard. The WooCommerce plugin does not ask merchants to enter wallet addresses.

Common currency mistakes

Avoid:

1. Assuming settlement asset and checkout currency are the same.
2. Entering wallet addresses inside WooCommerce plugin settings.
3. Using the wrong store currency during test checkout.
4. Creating payment links in the wrong fiat currency.
5. Switching settlement asset without running a new sandbox test.
